Between the "Indian Pageant" and Indigenous Peoples Today
Project type
Historical Exhibit
Date
Summer 2022
Location
Ticonderoga, NY
This exhibit was created as an extension of my role as a Museum Intern at the Ticonderoga Historical Society during the Summer of 2022. I endeavored to contextualize and modernize the Society's representation of local indigenous communities, juxtaposing the popular but controversial "Indian Pageant" against contemporary Indigenous issues, including Missing and Murdered Indigenous People, ongoing conversations over language and terminology, and the legacy of Residential schools.
